YOPROCO, or Young Professionals Connect, is a soon-to-be launched Web site providing news and relevant information geared entirely to young professionals worldwide. It will also offer spotlights on young success, provocative opinion pieces and provide young professionals an opportunity to connect with people who can change their world professionally and personally.
Our staff is made up of a group of working young professionals living all over the world, who are committed to covering issues affecting the young professional, as well as shedding light on stories the mainstream media may not cover. Our team consists of a virtual team of full-time working professionals and college students in all areas of the journalism field, who bring experience from established media outlets including the Washington Post, Huffington Post, Foreign Policy Magazine, Seventeen Magazine and ESPN.
Sumaya Kazi, YOPROCO's editor in chief and CEO, is an internationally recognized innovator, leader, speaker and award-winning entrepreneur who has been featured in more than 150 newspapers, magazines and television spotlights, including being recognized as one of "America's Best Young Entrepreneurs" by BusinessWeek Magazine, one of "50 Visionaries Changing Your World" by UTNE Reader and a "Young Person Who Rocks" by CNN.
YOPROCO's goal is to bring together young professionals worldwide, share relevant information and highlight inspiring young people.
We are currently looking to fill part-time, work from anywhere positions, including writers, editors, copy editors, photographers and interns (college credit available); and anyone else who may be a good fit to join our talented teams in technology & design, legal and business development to help us prepare for the upcoming launch. As this is a new startup, we do not have any paid positions at this time. However, we can offer a great opportunity to connect with talented young professionals, a chance to grow your portfolio and help build a young media company dedicated to its full potential.

Open Positions:
- Writer
- Copy Editor

Responsibilities:
- Write 1 to 2 short, 200-450 word articles each week
- Write stories in a news-writing format using AP Style
- Pitch stories weekly and write them within 2 to 3 days
- Take story ideas from the mainstream media and gear them to the young professional
- Commit necessary time each week to conduct interviews and obtain quotes for stories
- Attend weekly editorial calls
- Ability to effectively communicate with editors
Experience:
- 1 to 3 years experience writing for print, online, newspaper or television medium
- Proven ability to pitch story ideas

Staff Copy Editor
Responsibilities:
- Proven ability to copy edit using AP Style and YOPROCO's style
- Copy edit up to five stories per week under a strict deadline
- Publish stories to the Web site on a regular basis
- Attend weekly editorial calls with editor-in-chief, managing editor, copy chief and content editors
- Work with content editors and writers on stories
Experience:
- 1 to 3 years copy editing experience for a print, online, newspaper or television medium

Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of writers
- Edit copy turned in by writers
- Coach writers throughout story process: from narrowing down a story idea, to going through multiple drafts with writers, perfecting a lede, etc.
- Submit weekly story ideas geared to the young professional
- Proven ability to manage a group of writers
- Proven ability to multitask and keep calm under deadline
- Attend weekly editorial calls as well as weekly editor calls
Experience:
- 1 to 3 years experience as a content editor for a print, online, newspaper or television medium

Responsibilities:
- Produce photos as assigned on a weekly basis
- Work with editors and writers to select visually interesting and fitting images for news articles
- Edit photos as necessary for site
- Produce occasional photo stories or photo essays as assigned
- Attend weekly editorial calls and give visual suggestions to stories being worked on
Experience:
- 1 to 3 years experience as a photographer for a print, online, newspaper or television medium

Internship
The internship program is offered to writers, photographers, copy editors and event planners who are juniors or seniors in college. It is a semester-long program that offers college credit and gives interns the opportunity to work alongside a group of working journalists. Since YOPROCO is a Web site with its staff scattered throughout the world, interns will not be getting coffee or printing copies. Instead, interns accepted into the program will get published, will get feedback on their work, and may also be invited to join the team as a staff member after the internship has ended.
Responsibilities:
Produce stories or photos as assigned on a weekly basis
- Work with editors to revise stories and photos as needed
- Produce occasional photo stories or photo essays as assigned (for photography program)
- Attend weekly editorial calls
Experience:
- Core journalism classes: newswriting, media ethics, and one advanced journalism course; college newspaper, magazine or online publication experience preferred
